Tangjiatun Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Beishan, Tangjiatun, Acheng County, Heilongjiang. It was named by Zheng Guangyuan et al. in 1961.
Lithology and Thickness
Volcaniclastics. The formation is a stratum dominated by a suite of acid metamorphic volcanic rocks, with more sedimentary intercalations in the lower part than in the upper part. Lower part consists of yellow-brown and gray-black schistosed acid and intermediate-acid tuffaceous lava intercalated with schistosed gray-green tuffaceous sandstone, siltstone and slate. Upper part is dominated by rhyolitic tuffaceous lava intercalated with tuff and schistosed siltstone. Thickness >1211 m. 685 m thick at Beishan of Sunjiagong, Binxian County. Lava flows are not well developed, and are mostly tuffaceous lavas. From north to south the thickness increases and lava flows decrease.
